Purpose & Passion Beyond the School Building
“I just want to make a difference.”
“I want to inspire kids to realize there is nothing they can’t do!”
“I have a passion for teaching.”
“I want to lead others who are as passionate as I am about education!”
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard these phrases while interviewing prospective teachers or administrators. I may have even said some of those same words during my 22-year career working in public education. Effective educators – those who inspire and guide and move students to deeper learning – absolutely feel a sense of purpose and are passionate about their craft. They will give everything they have for the people they serve. Working in education – regardless of the role – is a rewarding, but taxing business.
Often when educators are ready to say goodbye to bell schedules and parent conferences, they cannot help but reflect on the impact they have made on the students, colleagues, and mentees they are leaving behind. Whether it is to dabble in a second career, change lanes early, or continue in an education-related field, many of us wonder if we will feel the same sense of purpose if not in a school setting.
What if you could leave the brick and mortar behind and still live every day knowing you make the lives of those you encounter a little easier, a little smoother, and a little more fulfilled? Better yet, what if you could support fellow educators, knowing that the result of your work would empower them with the energy and time to focus on what matters most – students?
Education Advanced’s core values are Students, People, Interdependence, Respect, Improvement and Trust. Students are our primary focus, our driving force, and the spirit behind Education Advanced. We exist to help school and district leaders get back to, or remain entrenched in, the business of leading instruction and transforming the educational experience.
Developmental psychologist Kendall Cotton Bronk of Claremont Graduate University, proposed that there are four key components to finding one’s purpose (2016):
- dedicated commitment
- personal meaningfulness
- goal directness
- vision larger than one’s self
The team at Education Advanced embodies these four components. We are accomplished educators, technologists and business leaders who come to work every day to practice our purpose. Empowering educators to transform schools isn’t just our company mission – it's our life’s work.
Working beyond the walls of a school building does not mean leaving behind a passion for education. In fact, the opposite is true. A career with Education Advanced means amplifying your reach to impact millions of students across district and state lines from coast to coast.
